Practical Application of National Cervical Screening Program (NCSP)

Self-paced Online Course for GPs

This course will provide participants with comprehensive knowledge on high-risk oncogenic HPV types, their association with cervical disease, and the current National Guidelines for Cervical Screening, including appropriate testing protocols. Additionally, participants will learn how to register with Telstra Health to access the National Cancer Screening Register (NCSR) and how to access and navigate the NCSP guidelines effectively.

Learning objectives

By the end of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Outline how to order the appropriate cervical screening test (CST) and how to determine the appropriate time interval for the CST test.
  2. Identify the terminology used in the NCSP.
  3. Describe the role of high-risk oncogenic HPV types in cervical cancer.
  4. Outline anogenital HPV types, their role in risk assessment for the development of cervical cancer.
  5. Outline how to register with Telstra Health to access the NCSR.
  6. Outline how to access and navigate the NCSP guidelines.

  • Each lecture will be followed by a multiple-choice question (MCQ) assessment that participants must complete.
